KISUMU, Kenya, September 23, 2020 – Dickson Oruko was over the weekend elected the new chairman of Football Kenya Federation Kisumu County branch.
Oruko defeated his sole challenger Musa Adagala by garnering a total of 37 votes against his opponent’s 5. Seth Oduor clinched the position of Secretary by securing 20 votes against John Odeyo who realized some 17 votes, while Dominic Mwalo came third with a paltry 5 votes.
George Jela became the new Treasurer with 39 votes against Joshua Ogonj’s 3 votes during an exercise held at the Ahero multi-purpose hall in Nyando.
The position of women representative went to Benter Awuor with 36 votes against Gorety Purity’s 6 votes. Calvins Ogallo became the youth leader with 36 votes against Javan Nyonje’s 6 votes.
Earlier Adagala attempted to disrupt the elections, which were presided over by Patrick Onyango of the FKF Elections Board.
Adagala insisted that he required time since he had not carried his national identification card and that some of his delegates were yet to arrive.
Police officers, however, moved in and disperse goons by lobbing teargas canisters at them. They later recorded a statement with the police at the Ahero station.
