KISII, Kenya – Eleven candidates have been cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest for Kiamokama ward by-election.
The eleven candidates were cleared by the Kisii County Returning officer Dr. Sidney Namulungu to vie for the seat following the passing on Ward Rep Kennedy Mainye.
The commission tweeted it is in the process of undertaking clearance and registration of candidates for the March 4, 2021 by-elections. Further, Returning officers in the respective by-election areas are clearing aspirants who intend to vie in the by-elections.
While presiding over the exercise, Dr. Namulungu said IEBC had finalised the clearing and registering aspirants for the position of Member of the County Assembly seat for Kiamokama ward.
“We have cleared eleven out of thirteen candidates who showed interest to contest for the MCA seat and the exercise was open, peaceful and democratic,” said Dr. Namulungu.
