Lake Basin Development Authority gets new MD

Presenting the MD to the board and workers on Monday, the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East Africa Community Ken Obura said Dr Raymond Omollo had been appointed with effect from February 1 this year

The Lake Basin Development Authority has finally got a substantive managing director. Presenting the MD to the board and workers on Monday, the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East Africa Community Ken Obura said Dr Raymond Omollo had been appointed with effect from February 1 this year.

In his letter to the authority’s Chairman Calvince Owidi, East African Community Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed said Dr Omollo will serve in the position for three years.

He takes over from Dr Evans Atera who served in acting capacity the last three years. Obura regretted that senior managers at the LBDA have been acting for many years.

LBDA chairman Calvince Owidi regretted that the board is yet to be fully constituted. He lamented that a number of problems had made it difficult to open the multimillion mall, which has been idle for many years.

He divulged that the facility will be operational in the next two months. Owidi said they will reclaim some of their assets which are scattered across the 17 regions of their jurisdictions.
