President Uhuru Extends Curfew To September 29

NAIROBI, Kenya, Monday, September 21, 2020 – President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday extended the 9 pm to 4 am Covid-19 curfew for one more week. Uhuru was categorical that the curfew will still be in effect until Tuesday, September 29, 2020.

The President said that a national Covid-19 conference scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2020, will determine the way forward when the curfew period expires.

After the meeting, the head of state will address the nation on the way forward. The head of state also ordered that all the Covid-19 containment measures announced during the Eleventh Presidential Address on August 26 be extended as well.

At the time, Uhuru had directed that bars and nightclubs to remain closed for a further 30 days.
