NAIROBI, Kenya, December 13, 2019 – University of Nairobi (UoN) acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Isaac Mbeche is among eight candidates shortlisted for the VC post.
Public Service Commission picked the eight candidates from a pool of 14 applicants that expressed interest in the post.
Among those selected for December 18, 2019 interviews are two deputy vice-chancellors, Prof Madara Ogot and Stephen Kiama, as well as former deputy vice-chancellor Prof Bernard Njoroge.
Prof Mbeche was appointed acting VC after the University Council sent Prof Peter Mbithi on leave to pave way for the appointment of a new following the end of his term.
The University Council rejected Prof Mbithi’s request for term renewal in stormy special session.
